KC Mahindra Scholarship is an initiative of the KC Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) which aims to effectively enable proper education to the most deserving and talented students of the country. It has an objective of uplifting and promoting literacy and higher education/ learning in India. The KCMET has progressed as to mark an increase of 45% in the number of the awardees of the KC Mahindra scholarship who further secured admissions in the top-ranked universities in the world, such as, Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Pennsylvania, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, etc.

KC Mahindra Scholarship- Eligibility Criteria

There are certain eligibility parameters that the applicants have to necessarily qualify in order to be eligible to apply for this scholarship program. KC Mahindra Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad assigns a separate selection committee constituting of eminent leaders to shortlist the most deserving applications. The applicants should make sure to qualify the conditions and qualifications mentioned below before applying for the KC Mahindra scholarship programme:

They must possess a first division degree or an equivalent diploma of a similar standard from any recognised University in India.
They must be Indian citizens who have secured admission or have applied for an admission in a reputable foreign university for different courses.

Note: The candidates applying for an undergraduate degree, seminars & conferences are not eligible to apply for the KC Mahindra scholarship program.

KC Mahindra Scholarship- Rewards

K.C. Mahindra Education Trust through the KC Mahindra scholarship has been successful in granting interest-free loans/ scholarships exclusively to the most deserving students of the country. In the academic year 2018–19, the KC Mahindra scholarship was able to disburse grants which equalized to a total amount of INR 2.92 Crores. Students from the top institutions in the country, like the Indian Institute of Technology; Birla Institute of Technological Sciences, Pilani; National Law University, etc. who are placed in the highly reputed universities worldwide were able to potentially use this opportunity in their favour.

The KC Mahindra scholarship creates a pool of about 50 most deserving students who have applied for the education scheme and rewards them in the following way:

A scholarship grant of up to INR 8 lakhs per scholar to the Top-3 KC Mahindra scholarship applicants.
A scholarship grant of up to INR 4 lakh per scholar to the rest of the shortlisted applicants.

The KC Mahindra scholarship scheme is applicable for a duration of up to two years only. If an applicant needs to extend that duration, he/she needs to seek approval for the specific request from the KCMET. The selected scholars are supposed to repay the KC Mahindra scholarship amount to the KCMET within 24 months of completing their course or 48 months after receiving the scholarship grant, whichever is earlier. It is the sole discretion of the Trust to determine the expiry period.

KC Mahindra Scholarship- Application Procedure

The aspiring KC Mahindra Scholarship applicants can apply for the scholarship scheme via both online and offline mode. The application process for the academic year 2019–20 closed on the 15 thof April, 2019. The scholarship application tentatively opens in December/January every year. KC Mahindra Scholarship-Documents Required

The students need to attach certain documents in order to verify their candidature. The mark sheets, certificates, transcripts, etc. are an essential part of the application. The applicant should make sure that all the documents attached to the application are authentic or else he/she has a chance of getting their application dishonored.

One letter of recommendation
A statement, written by the applicant constituting his/her aptitude, interests, ambitions and other aspirations
A copy of the GRE/GMAT score of the applicant (If applicable)

Evidence of the applicant’s course and degree certification along with the mark sheets of the examination
Rank certificate of the applicant (If applicable)
A copy of the 10th, 12th and the school leaving certificate of the applicant

KC Mahindra Scholarship — Selection Procedure

For the selection of the deserving and talented applicants and assisting them through the KC Mahindra scholarship, a specific selection committee is appointed by the trustees of the KCMET. The committee analyses and evaluates the applications based on the merit, character, aptitude, ambitions and other qualities of the applicants.
After the completion of the course, the candidate can work in any firm or institution of his/her choice. There are no obligations by the trustees of the KCMET to provide any sort of employment to any applicant.

Preference is given to students who are interested to pursue their studies in subjects and areas related to the development of the country and its importance. For example, Bio-Gas Technology for rural areas, Oceanography, harvesting of ocean wealth- like Sea-bed Mining, Fisheries and Survey and Prospecting of the mineral resources of the country, Alternate Sources of Energy, like Solar, Wind and Tidal Energy, Agricultural Research and Engineering, Transportation Economics, Off-shore Drilling, and Exploration of other oceanic products etc.
