SAT registration is the initial step to apply for SAT examination. Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT is held four times a year for international students in October, December, March and May. The test allows prospective students to pursue undergraduate programmes in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and more. Provided by the College Board from the US, the SAT registration involves the students to follow simple steps online. When can a candidate apply for the SAT exam? How can he/she apply? SAT Registration — About SAT

Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT is a global test administered by College Board in the US which was developed to evaluate written, verbal and mathematical skills of candidates who wish to start a college in countries like the US, UK or Canada. Later, this test became one of the eligibility condition in countries like Australia and Singapore for pursuing undergraduate studies.

SAT exam pattern is divided into three sections namely Math, Reading and Writing. Students who wish to pursue undergraduate courses, particularly in the US and Canada, are required to take the SAT exam. For admission to a particular course, the applicant can take the SAT subject tests to show his/her knowledge and understanding of that particular subject. Subject tests are offered in areas like Literature, History, Mathematics, Sciences and Foreign Languages.

SAT Registration — Types of SAT Exam

The SAT exam is conducted in two ways namely the SAT and SAT Subject Test. Get detailed information about both the types of examination hereunder.

SAT — The SAT exam tests your knowledge of math, reading and writing from high school level. It is a 3 hour 45 minutes long test for which the students can start preparing when they are in Class XI or XII. SAT exam tests skills students learn at the school level.

SAT Subject Test — This test is an hour long which allows students to prove how good their concepts in a specific subject area are. The key subject areas include English, Mathematics, Foreign Language, History, and Science. The students have to find out from the colleges whether they require SAT subject score or not.

SAT Registration — Steps to Follow

One can register for the SAT exam by two modes: online and via mail. We will briefly cover how to do it for both the modes.

Online registration

Step 1: Create a student profile on the College Board website

  • Students should visit the web link here to create a profile.
  • Click on “Sign Up” and provide information on name, sex, date of birth, email address, etc.
  • Select a username and password.
  • Review and confirm the information provided and you will receive an email confirmation. Proceed to the next step for filling out the application.

Step 2: Filling out the SAT form

  • Login with username and password to register for SAT.
  • Provide information on personal, high school and mailing address.
  • The students also have to provide details on demography and family.
  • Provide details on GPA, Course work in Math, Science, English, Social Science and Languages, college plan for the level of education & extracurricular activities.

Step 3: Choose the test date and center

  • The students have to select “country” they would like to take a test in.
  • Choose SAT test type as SAT or SAT subject test
  • Select the test date from the drop down menu list

  • You need to select an Essay option.
  • Provide SSD number, in case you are seeking special accommodations due to disabilities.
  • US students can also fill out fee waiver information.
  • Select the preferred test center from the list and proceed further.

  • The applicants have to upload a front-facing photo and they have to make sure it is visible as the photo will be used for verification purpose.
  • The students who are in Class below 8th grade need not upload a photo.

Step 4: Application fee payment

  • You will need to select the study material and review the information provided.
  • Click on “Make Payment” and pay by using Credit Card (Discover, MasterCard, VISA etc) or PayPal.
  • Registering late will incur a late fee.
  • Registration deadlines are typically about three to four weeks before a test date.

The students can request for registration by mail under the following conditions:

  • The student needs a test center to be closer to his/her home.
  • They need to take up the test on Sunday for the first time.
  • The student would like to pay by check or money order.
  • The student’s age is below 13 years old.
  • The student is unable to upload a digital photo in the online registration process.
  • They are registering through an international representative of SAT.

The students can apply through mail accordingly:

  • The student can request SAT registration booklet from College Board or a counselor.
  • Then they have to fill an application form and mail them along with a cheque or money order and send it in an envelope to College Board Office in London, UK.

SAT Registration — Key Dates

SAT is conducted in more than 25,000 centers across 192 countries and it is scheduled for the following dates for the academic year 2019–20. It will be conducted four times in 2019. Students are allowed to take SAT or SAT subject test as per the dates suiting their requisites. SAT Registration — List of Exam Centres

For Indian students — SAT is conducted at around 53 institutes spread across 30 cities of India. As the test is conducted once a month, there is still a lag in booking centers. The students are advised to apply for SAT registration at least a month ago for the exam as there is a growing number of applications every year. The test is conducted in the following cities Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Noida, Vadodara, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Telangana, Kodaikanal, Kolkata, Lucknow, Pune, Mohali, Mumbai, Ootacumund, Missouri, Sohna, Vijayawada, Trivandrum, Vishakapatnam and Surat.

SAT Registration — Results and Scores

The SAT score result gets available online around 4–5 weeks after your test date. Once the score result is available, College Board begins sending SAT score reports to the colleges that applicants have selected, if any, at the time of SAT registration. You can check below the details related SAT scores in the table. The overall SAT test is scored on a scale of 400–1600. Considering the scores in terms of percentile, a total score of 1600, depicts 99+ percentile. Furthermore, a 95 percentile depicts a score of 1400 and 80 percentile depicts a score of 1230 etc.
